Technology

The Technology Program at RHLS is built around the mission of preparing students for the challenges they will meet in high school, college, and beyond. Curriculum is based on the National Education Technology Standards and aligned with the state academic curriculum. Projects teach skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Research/Use, and Typing while reinforcing topics studied in the classroom. Younger students develop their fine motor skills along with their academic skills using drawing programs like TuxPaint and KidPix. Students work on portable dual-platform MacBook computers, generally using the Macintosh platform. Elective classes are currently offered in Web Design and in the future will include topics like Photoshop and digital film creation using iMovie. Click here to view Raena's Calendar.

Raena grew up on the PV Peninsula and went to LA Harbor College before graduating with a B.A. in Drama from UC, Irvine. She went on to spend several years in the Entertainment Industry before realizing teaching was her true passion and obtaining a multiple-subject teaching credential from CSU, Fullerton. She taught in the Hawthorne Elementary School District as a classroom teacher before taking a few years off with her new daughter. She returned to the classroom part-time teaching computers at two South Bay Catholic schools before being blessed to find RHLS. She tries to inspire the students with the idea that “knowledge is power” and with the right technology skills they can learn all they want to know.
