Outdoor Education

Overnight Trips

Grades four through eight participate in extended educational excursions. These are unforgettable overnight experiences that connect what they are learning in the classroom to the world around them. They visit remarkable places, gain hands-on experience, and bond with their classmates. These trips are the highlight of many students’ year.

Fourth Grade: Sacramento

The fourth grade visits the Sacramento area for a three-day trip visiting museums, the seat of state government, and recreating the experiences of the gold mining era.

Fifth Grade: Thousand Pines

Our fifth grade retreats at Thousand Pines Christian Camp in Crestline. While away the students work together to overcome challenges, spend time in fellowship, and bond with nature. Students hike, sing, problem solve, climb a rock wall, and do archery. It is an amazing experience!

Sixth Grade: Astro Camp

AstroCamp is an overnight, 3-day science adventure camp in the mountains where students explore physics, astronomy, and space science through hands-on experiments and outdoor activities. Students get to experience things like building windmills, using telescopes, and learning about chemistry and space in a fun and engaging way.

Seventh Grade: CIMI (Catalina Island Marine Institute)

CIMI (Catalina Island Marine Institute) is an overnight, 5 day educational camp on Catalina Island where students learn about marine biology and ocean ecology through hands-on activities. Campers explore the ocean by snorkeling, kayaking, and hiking while studying sea life in a fun, outdoor environment.

Eighth Grade: East Coast

Our eight grade students embark on a memorable week-long trip to our nation’s capital and several surrounding states, including Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New York. In Washington, D.C., students deepen their understanding of American history and government by visiting the U.S. Capitol, Arlington National Cemetery, the Holocaust Museum, various Smithsonian museums, and numerous iconic memorials and monuments. In Pennsylvania, they explore the historic Gettysburg battlefield and gain insight into a different way of life through a visit to an Amish community in Lancaster. The journey continues in New York City, where students experience the powerful 9/11 Memorial and Museum, enjoy a boat ride around the harbor with views of the Statue of Liberty, explore the bright lights of Times Square, and attend a Broadway show. This enriching trip offers students a unique opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences, creating lasting memories and a deeper appreciation for the nation’s history and culture.
